The allowance can be claimed by a person who, for reasons of long-term poor health, needs the assistance of another person in coping with their basic life needs.
The regional branch of the Labour Office decides on the granting of the allowance.
To apply for the allowance it is necessary to fill in the forms “Application for Care Allowance” and “Notification of Assistance Provider” (the person who undertakes to care for the allowance applicant). Proof of the applicant’s identity must also be submitted.
There are 4 classes of care allowance:
a) class I (light dependence) – CZK 880/month
b) class II (medium dependence) – CZK 4,400/month
c) Stage III (severe dependence) -12 800 CZK/month
d) class IV (total dependence) – CZK 19,200/month
The applicant becomes entitled to receive the allowance once the allowance application has been filed. If the applicant is admitted to a facility, that facility is entitled to claim the full amount of the care allowance (pursuant to Section 73(4) of Act No. 108/2006 Coll., on Social Services, as amended).
